Gate to Gate

Read it. Study it. Race it.

Results

Five head races, sorted the way a coach reads them. On the Charles, every event, every year since 2012: the regatta's own times at Riverside, Weld, the CBC and the finish become a true breakdown of the race, where every crew stood at each gate and who rowed the fastest piece between them, ranked. The Schuylkill, the Fish, the Chase and the Hooch since 2023, with every intermediate time their regatta publishes. The weather at the start sits above the table.

Tap any crew for a result card: place, time and every gate, built for Instagram and saved or shared in a tap.

Look for the pink bows 16 ▸. That crew's line is in, from ActiveTrack or a posted file. Tap it and you see the exact line the boat rowed, gate to gate, with the full analysis.

Course notes

Every course, gate by gate: the turns, the bridges, the notes for the coxswain and the coach, and a card to save to a phone. The wind on each leg, head, tail or cross, for race day, and the river's flow against the normal for the date.

Follow live Beta

On race day, follow every boat in the ActiveTrack live pool: position, split and time through every gate, as it rows. Pick the regatta, pick the race. For information only; not official results.

ActiveTrack Beta

Athletes and coaches. Enter your boat in the ActiveTrack live pool at the marshalling area: pick your event and bow, tap Join, phone in a pocket, screen facing in. One phone per boat. Family and fans follow you live, and your line is deposited automatically at the finish.

Course analysis

Two ways to get your course analysis. Join ActiveTrack and it is done for you at the finish. Or, after the race, upload the CSV or FIT file from your SpeedCoach or CoxBox. Either way your bow turns pink on the results page, and the deep analysis is yours, starting with your coxswain's line through every gate.

See the line you steered, metre by metre, and compare it with any other crew's line, across every event: open theirs, open yours, and learn where they were fast, where you were faster, and what the shortest line through each gate looks like. Coming soon: your line and the fastest line of the year on one image. A coxswain's dream, and a rower's and a coach's too.

  • Your line on the satellite view, animated, synced with live time, metres, split, and rate from a SpeedCoach or CoxBox file
  • The time through every gate: eleven on the Charles, not just the regatta's three
  • Your fastest and slowest 500, and exactly where on the river they happened
  • Every stroke coloured fast or slow against your own average
  • Where your time sits against every boat in your event since 2012, year by year, with the weather
  • Several files side by side in the Practice Lab, and a race card to download

Five gated courses: the Charles, the Schuylkill, the Fish, the Chase and the Hooch. Somewhere else? Set your own start and finish at your home course or an unlisted regatta and get the same analysis.

Replay

Pick up to four crews from any event and race them side by side on the regatta's own times. Crews with a line race on the lines they actually rowed, crossing and overtaking. The thrill of sprint racing, brought to head racing.

The community

Post your file and your bow turns pink on the results page, so anyone can open the line you rowed. Every line posted gives the next crew a real boat to compare against. The leaderboard ranks every posted line two ways, fastest overall and shortest line, and over time the shortest line through each gate becomes the reference everyone measures from. Nothing leaves your browser until you say so.

The game

Race the Charles online before you race it on the water. Three miles in three and a half minutes, in a single: every bridge, every arch, every orange and green buoy where it really is, and the regatta's own penalties when you get it wrong. Sound on for the coxswain. Phone, tablet or desktop.
